Alongside this, the organisation remains committed to working closely with creators, broadcasters, and audiences throughout France: a commitment that has translated into more than €16.7 million invested in cultural initiatives, supporting 3,800 projects across the country. Furthermore, Sacem significantly increased its operational efficiency in 2025, with an expense-to-revenue ratio of 9.8% – one of the lowest in the world.
What are the key takeaways from 2025 for Sacem?
Our 2025 results are a clear indicator that the strategy we’ve adopted – based on both digital and international expansion, as well as our role in supporting creativity across France – is both relevant and effective.
This momentum is driven by major investments in new technologies, such as the URights platform, which allows us to process increasingly large volumes of data faster, more reliably, and with greater transparency. This recent growth proves a simple fact: since its inception, Sacem has consistently demonstrated its ability to adapt to major technological shifts and to keep pace with innovation.
In addition to this, Sacem is now the European leader in the management of CD and vinyl rights. In 2025, Sony Music Entertainment, Warner Music Group, and BMG joined Universal Music Group by partnering with Sacem to manage their rights across the entire European market.
How is Sacem responding to generative AI?
Today, artificial intelligence marks a turning point. Just as with streaming platforms over fifteen years ago, our current ambition is to establish strong partnerships with AI providers to help create a fair and protective framework for creators. And 2026 will be a pivotal year in this regard, driven by ongoing legislative developments.
What concrete commitments has Sacem made in the regions?
Building on a network of 60 regional offices across mainland France and overseas territories, we provide daily support to artists, venues, associations, and local authorities, particularly in rural areas and regions with limited cultural infrastructure.
In 2025, this commitment translated into more than €16 million invested in cultural initiatives, supporting 3,800 projects across the country.
Sacem operates at every level of the music value chain: supporting performance venues and concert halls, with 185 venues receiving assistance; funding 1,500 concerts and musical events in cafés, bars, restaurants, and campgrounds that help bring music directly to audiences; and supporting more than 500 festivals, which are key drivers of cultural appeal in the regions, among other examples.
As funding for the arts continues to decline, we are committed to supporting community-based arts scenes, fostering the emergence of new talent, and expanding access to music for everyone.
Any closing remarks?
Over 175 years, Sacem has grown in scale: from a society supporting around a hundred creators in France, it has become a global player in over 180 markets.
Today, I am incredibly proud to see a French company as the global leader in music rights management. We will continue to develop this model, which has proven its worth for the past 175 years, serving artists and creative professionals wherever music is played.
